Share Photo credit:empowernetwork.comLocal magistrate Gloria Augustus told participants of an “A GANAR” program to use the skills acquired to “pursue” future goals.On Wednesday, forty-three young men and women graduated from a six month program organized by the USAID in collaboration with the government of Dominica, Youth Division and the Center Where Adolescents Learn to Love and Serve (CALLS).The participants were trained in various skills, including computer, Literacy and Building construction.They were also taught how to be disciplined and have respect for self and others.“You have earned skills that cannot be taken away from you. You have been given marketable skills and you should use it,” the magistrate advised.According to Augustus, the training provided opportunities which should not be taken for granted.“This graduation is a call to action. If you feel that you have other interest, do not hesitate aquire the skills that you require,” she cautioned.The participants were also “encouraged to save”.A GANAR is led by Partners of the Americas in fifteen countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.A GANAR is the Spanish term for “YOU WIN, YOU EARN”.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
