As the name suggests, the show will feature Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest and crew “rebooting” classic TV shows and movies of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s — and donning the costumes to match. Kelly says she was especially excited about recreating one particular iconic ’70s series.“Charlie’s Angels, 100%! Because that was my jam!” Kelly tells ABC Radio. “I had to explain it to everybody else — because everybody thinks that Charlie’s Angels is with Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz — they were like, ‘Am I Cameron? Am I Lucy Liu?’”She laughs, “No! We are doing Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson and Jacklyn Smith!”Kelly and Ryan will also recreate Friends, Top Gun, Saved by the Bell, The Brady Bunch, Laverne & Shirley and more — but Ryan says he most enjoyed playing Punky Brewster. Regarding the numerous costume changes, he tells ABC Radio, “I just close my eyes and somehow I open them and I become whatever it is they want me to be.”Among the stars who’ll be making appearances on Wednesday’s episode are Susan Lucci, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Busy Phillips, Christina Aguilera, John Stamos, Caroline Rhea and more. The best part of Live’s Halloween show is the fact that the audience can participate too, by arriving in costume. “It’s what makes the show fun for us to do, too and they really blow us away and go for it,” says Ryan. The audience member with the best costume will win $10 grand. And speaking of memorable Halloween costumes, Kelly says hers was the year her mom finally allowed her to get a store-bought Wonder Woman costume with the plastic mask. “It was the happiest I remember ever being!” she says.Copyright © 2018, ABC Radio.
