first_imgIt took a race but Andrea Stinson finally found her way back to the top of the medal podium.After finishing in the middle of the pace during the opening race of the season in Kaslo, the L.V. Rogers senior edged out Susanne Fraser of the host school to capture the Senior Girl’s title at the Rossland stop on the West Kootenay Cross Country Running Circuit held at the Black Jack Ski Trails.Stinson won the five-kilometer race in a time of 22 minutes, 48.03 seconds. Fraser was second with Jill Reynolds, also of Rossland, third.Lyla M. of Mount Sentinel finished fourth with Taylor Wilson of J.V. Humphries of Kaslo, fifth, Katy Camileri of LVR sixth, Sierra Gibbons of Rossland seventh, Ellie Hewat of JVH eighth, Darya Huser of Salmo ninth and Amy LeBlanc of Trafalgar 10th.In the boy’s race, David Palmer of Rossland topped the division over schoolmate Nick Underwood.Palmer, more than two minutes ahead of Underwood, won the 7.5 km race in a time of 28:13.3.Joe Cox of JVH was third, more than three minutes behind Palmer.Provincial team country skier Peter Locke of LVR was fourth with Micah May and Julien Locke, also of LVR, fifth and sixth.Cail Spencer of LVR was sevenths with Mitch McLean of Trail’s J. Lloyd Crowe eighth.Levis S. of Mount Sentinel and Owen Thurston of LVR rounded out the top ten.Bradley S. of Mount Sentinel won the junior race over Clayton Jackshaw of Kaslo.Keiran Marchand finished third followed Ezra Fox of Trafalgar in fourth and Aaron Finke in fifth.Samuel Matthew of Trafalgar was sixth with Gina Oostlander of Trafalgar sevenths and Kalina S. of Mount Sentinel eighth.Kalob Drinnan of Trafalgar and Jocey Terwood of Salmo finished ninth and 10th, respectively.The West Kootenay circuit shifts to LVR Wednesday for the Kootenay Kramp.The race begins near the field at the Tenth Street campus of Selkirk College.The course is approximately a 4 km loop that has a lot of steep single-track hills, open flats along the Trans Canada Trail, and some gravel road as well.  Roots and rocks are commonplace on the single track.Race begins at 4:15 [email protected]last_img
